Naughtybus

We bought Naughty Bus yesterday, and it's the best kids book I've seen for ages. A charmingly odd story, very modern, exciting use of photography and photoshop. Plus they do all sorts of stuff with the type that makes Arthur much keener to actually do reading. Which is fantastic. I suspect you graphic designers will love it. (Either that or tell me what unsophisticated design taste I have.)

Thanks Russell and Arthur - I'm glad you like it. Jerry and I had planned to do a sequel, but he died suddenly last summer, so Naughty Bus will be our one and only book together. Photography for children is a very unexplored area, I think: yet if you use imagination and shoot at a child's eye level you can present images a child can 'read', which is empowering. We had to publish Naughty Bus ourselves so I appreciate the feedback!

I was just doing some advertising dvelopment work for Corgi (the models not the boiler people) so briefly waved The Naughty Bus in front of them hoping they'd take the hint. I find the whole style of illustration inspiring - such a shame that photoshop is so often used prosaically to enhance reality 'realistically'. I keep thinking I should really pass the book on to a suitable godchild or nephew who would appreciate it more but I can't quite bear to.
