This is the best park in the world. Small, compact, slap in the middle of Matlock, just on the edge of the Peak District. Tennis courts, a river, a little train the kids can ride on, paddling pools, bowls, a putting green, boats you can hire for £2 and the best park cafe ever. A little shack and some tables outside. Sausage sandwiches, cakes, footballs and bubbles.
They'll normally give you a proper mug, but we weren't sure if we were going to be sitting in the park so we got these ones.
what sort of tea is that?

I imagine that's a nice strong example of some brand like Morrisons or Happy Shopper. Something basic.

Just found your site after it got mentioned on "Central News East".
Check out the cafe all the locals use in Matlock, across the road from the bus station. Orange gloss decor and the atmosphere is that thick you can cut it with a knife! Meat & Potato pies used to be good there too...

Great Site,Like yourself I'm a fan of the great Brittish Cafe. One you might like to try is Phlys Grill on Whittington Moor in Chesterfield, I've been to numourous cafe's and have yet to find a breakfast that comes close to the one you get there! Regards Steve

The Park Cafe (the new name for the Hungry Hippo)is the best cafe in the world! but I'm biased as I worked there for years! Nowadays you can enjoy a more extensive menu of hot and cold light lunches, and there is now wooden decking and additional indoor seating for less perfect weather! The tea is a caterers brand but tastes quite like Yorkshire Tea - lovely!
