I can't belive I've not been here before. This place is completely brilliant. I was lucky enough to be there with a regular so I felt like some kind of special insider. We were there on our own, soaking up the vibe. There are more good pictures at classic cafes.
I know I'm supposed to have a tea but this place demanded a frothy coffee. Which was delicious - especially as I loaded it with sugar.
The wallpaper, the table-tops they're all perfect. And that purple. Where did they get that purple?
Lovely atmosphere too. Friendly. Slow.
I should go back sometime when my camera is in focus.
Warning - this caff ain't for the depression-prone !!!
I've been here twice, just because I was in the area. I was staggered to find a place this unreconstructed still in business. There was an almost pre-war feel to the decor.
Can't agree with you on this one, but I guess it's worth visiting just for its end-of-an-era ambiance !

I feel this is the sort of place Meursault would have went for his lunch. I wonder if they do cheap algerian wine..
